August 2012- Groton NH: Iberdrola Renewables- a division of Iberdrola SA (Spain)- constructs a wind farm.
Consisting of 24 Gamesa G87 turbines made in Pennsylvania, this installation will produce an average of 48 Megawatts when commissioned early in 2013. With 139 ft (42m) blades set on 256 ft (78m) towers, it will produce enough electricity to power 20,000 homes. The wind farm occupies 115 acres on top of Tenney and Fletcher Mountains, and is visible from many towns and lakes in the area. Cost is estimated at $120 million.
